A resource interest, land-access arrangement and environmental approval can involve distinct rights and processes. One document should not be treated as proof that all project permissions or community interests have been addressed.
Which rights and approvals does this proposal depend on, and whose interests require separate advice?
Ask the adviser to explain the assumptions behind the answer, any missing information and what would change the proposed next step. You can request an initial assessment without assuming that full representation is included.
Ask whom that lawyer represents and whether independent advice is needed. Different parties can have different interests in the same agreement. Do not assume paying legal costs makes another party’s adviser your own.
